Terms of Use
Please read these terms before using Japan Regulation Watch.
1. About these terms
These Terms of Use set out the conditions for using Japan Regulation Watch (the "Service"), provided by Hiroshi Hasegawa (trade name "Nearia", the "Operator"). By using the Service, you agree to these terms. Rules and notes shown in the Service are part of these terms.
2. The Service and AI
The Service collects business-related information published by Japanese government bodies such as the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, the Consumer Affairs Agency, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and the Financial Services Agency, summarizes and translates it into English with AI, and delivers it by email and on the website. Translations are for reference only; the original Japanese text is authoritative. Each item links to the issuing body and the original text. The Service does not file applications, bids or notifications on your behalf and does not give individual legal or regulatory advice.
Much of the text in the Service is generated automatically by AI. AI output may be wrong, inaccurate or contain unintended expressions. Summaries are not guaranteed to be accurate or complete. Always check the original before making business decisions.
3. Who can use the Service
The Service is only for businesses: companies and other organizations, sole proprietors using it for their business, and their employees. Consumers (individuals using it for personal, non-business purposes) cannot subscribe to the paid plan.
If a minor signs up for the paid plan without a guardian's consent, the contract may be cancellable under law.
4. Prohibited conduct
- Anything illegal or against public order and morals, or helping a crime
- Infringing copyrights, trademarks, portrait rights, privacy, reputation or other rights
- Hurting, discriminating against, threatening, harassing or stalking others
- Sending sexual or violent content, or content encouraging suicide or self-harm, or trying to make the AI produce it
- Writing your own or others' personal information (real name, address, phone number, email, school, workplace, social media IDs, etc.)
- Advertising, solicitation, directing people to other services, or commercial use (unless approved by the Operator)
- Trying to bypass the AI's safety measures, or making the AI impersonate others or real people
- Mass automated operation, unauthorized access, overloading the servers or otherwise disrupting the Service
- Copying, republishing or analyzing the Service's programs or content without permission
If you do any of these, the Operator may delete content, suspend use or delete your registration without notice.
5. Rights
Rights to the Service's design, logo, programs and text belong to the Operator or the rightful owners. Please do not republish the summaries, except for sharing within your organization. The original texts belong to each government body.
6. Fees and payment
- The paid plan (Standard) costs USD 19 per month (monthly billing) or USD 190 per year (annual billing). Payment is made in U.S. dollars.
- You pay the first fee on the day you sign up; the plan then renews and is charged automatically on the same day each month (monthly) or each year (annual).
- Payment is made by credit card on Stripe's payment page. The Operator does not store card numbers. Any currency conversion fees are determined by your card issuer.
- Prices include any Japanese consumption tax that applies. Business customers outside Japan are responsible for any VAT, GST or similar tax in their own country, including under the reverse-charge mechanism.
- When you subscribe, you confirm that you are subscribing on behalf of a business.
- You can cancel at any time from "Manage subscription" in any email. After cancelling, you can keep using the plan until the end of the paid period. There are no prorated refunds for mid-period cancellation, except when the Operator could not provide the Service through its own fault.
- Price changes will be announced by email at least 30 days in advance. See the legal notice under the Specified Commercial Transactions Act.
7. Changes, suspension and termination
The Operator may change the Service, or suspend it temporarily for maintenance, failures, disasters or outages of external services. If the Service ends, the Operator will, as a rule, announce it in the Service at least 30 days in advance (paid subscribers will also be notified by email, and any remaining prepaid period will be refunded).
8. Warranty and liability
The Operator does not guarantee that the Service will never stop, that data will not be lost, or that AI output is accurate.
If you suffer damage in connection with the Service, the Operator will compensate you as required by law where the Operator acted intentionally or with gross negligence. For slight negligence, the Operator compensates only ordinary, direct damage, up to the total fees you paid in the 12 months up to the month the damage occurred.
This article does not apply to the extent it is not permitted by the Consumer Contract Act or other laws protecting users.
9. Exclusion of anti-social forces
Members of organized crime groups or other anti-social forces, or persons associated with them, may not use the Service. If this becomes known, the Operator may suspend use.
10. Personal information
Personal information is handled under the Privacy Policy.
11. Changes to these terms
The Operator may change these terms in accordance with the Civil Code of Japan. The new terms and their effective date will be announced in the Service before that date (as a rule at least 30 days in advance for major changes unfavorable to users, with email notice to paid subscribers). Using the Service after the effective date means you accept the changes.
12. Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms are governed by the laws of Japan. Disputes will first be resolved through discussion; failing that, the district court or summary court with jurisdiction over the Operator's address has exclusive jurisdiction in the first instance.
